Final (random) Thoughts on 2016

Another year has come and gone and what a rollercoaster of inspiration, creativity and growth it’s been! A bit over a year ago, I happened upon the concept of minimalism, and I truly believe my life has been fully aligned with the concept.  Here’s a quick recap of what I’ve learned and thoughts on 2017 before you’re off to enjoy the festivities and ring in the New Year:

  1. BOLDLY AND UNAPOLOGETICALLY WORSHIP: Every single path I’ve taken in this crazy life was determined for me long before I was even born.  I’m still a work in progress, but giving in and acknowledging that He alone is the provider of all blessings has taken time.  My wish for the New Year is for people to see HIM through MY actions.
  2. GIVE MORE:  Having a minimalist mindset has allowed for more freedom to give back our time and resources to causes we believe in.  The payoff of knowing you’ve bettered the world in some way feels far greater than succumbing to selfish desires.
  3. WASTE LESS: Minimalism has opened my eyes to how much we in the Westernized world waste on a daily basis. Two documentaries: Minimalism and The True Cost have been game changers for me. Buy less, choose well and make it last- it’s that simple, but our culture would have us believe otherwise.  I’m making sustainability a focus on the blog for 2017.
  4. BETTER SELF CARE: With having more time and less mental and physical clutter, I should have done a better job with my own self care, but instead I’ve found it difficult to balance my spiritual, physical, mental and professional self.  I can be wildly immersed in one or the other, but never wholly together. Balance will be key next year!

Here’s to a bright, balanced and inspirational new year! What will your focus be in 2017?
