Welcome! After my corporate job was eliminated last year, I transitioned into the full time freelance world.

Living with less provided the freedom to focus on other passions and I've been freelance writing for environmentally conscious brands and busy entrepreneurs since.

Gone are the days of purchasing sticky facial cream from a shady company on GroupOn boasting the miraculous skin tightening properties of snail serum.  Yes, I actually spent money on facial cream that supposedly contained SNAIL SLIME, but smelled like glorified Elmer’s Glue (and felt like it) in my past non-intentional consumer life.

Luckily, the era of throwing money at cheap, questionable products has passed, but that doesn’t erase the skin damage caused by the sleepless nights and sun worshiping of my early twenties.

Slow beauty:

I often focus on slow fashion and slow food, but living intentionally is a much broader topic than solely what we wear and eat.  I was recently introduced to a tremendous amount of ecofriendly brands at Expo East, including Hug Your Skin, a distributor of the organic, cruelty free, ethical skincare line-Inlight.

I’m currently using the InLight Line Softener Intensive-one of the natural anti aging skin care products that’s offered in their recently launched line.

Here’s why I’m loving the brand AND this product:

Packaging:

Having a goal of eventually living zero waste, sustainable packaging is an important aspect influencing my shopping power.  There’s nothing more contradictory than a company claiming sustainability, but uses plastic and non-biodegradable packaging for its products.

This product arrived in an easily recyclable cardboard box, with secondary retail packaging also able to be recycled.

The actual InLight Line Softener product is contained in a dark violet glass jar that can either be reused or recycled when empty.

Product:

The product smells absolutely AMAZING-hints of  patchouli and geranium make me feel as though I stepped right out of a relaxing yoga class.

The plant-based, bio-active ingredients are so natural and organic that they’re edible.  The three main components are spirulina, barley grass and argan oil, providing potent antioxidants and nutrients that help stimulate collagen production and keep skin nourished and hydrated.

Since it’s oil based, the skin only absorbs the amount it needs and typically only a small bit is needed per application, extending the product usage over several months. I apply it both morning and night, and it keeps my skin feeling moisturized and smooth.  I’m noticing that my problem wrinkle areas (eyes and laugh lines) are looking fuller and softer after only a few short weeks.  Yay!!!

See the full ingredient list below:
