I’m in the midst of another wardrobe challenge-this time a Summer10x10 hosted by Lee of Style Bee and Caroline of Un-Fancy, and I’m mixing the old with a teensy bit of new!
My relationship with fashion has only recently moved into the ‘serious’ category. I couldn’t commit to a certain brand, only shopped when I had to, and looked for cheap thrills in all the wrong places.
This weekend may be your last chance at some solid leaf peeping in middle Tennessee until next year. Hiking up to a gorgeous bluff overlooking a spectacular golden valley was just one highlight from a recent tour of the Isha Institute of Inner Sciences in McMinnville.
You know that thing you would do if you had juuuuuust a bit more time? Well, lucky you! Recently I was introduced to Shipt-a membership based, on demand grocery store delivery service, available in Nashville and expanding quickly to many metropolises throughout the US-most recently the San Antonio and Austin, TX areas. When I heard Shipt was gifting the Nashville Food Bloggers a free membership, excited was an understatement. I’m all about making life simpler and freeing up time to focus on what’s important-whether that’s time with loved ones, hustling on a dream, giving back to the community, learning a new language or ______________. (You fill it in.) How does it work? You subscribe monthly ($14.00) or yearly ($99.00) to have your Publix or HEB groceries delivered directly to your door and into your kitchen (other store partnerships are on the horizon). You order and pay via a user-friendly mobile-app and have your groceries delivered in as little as the next hour! I kind of love being snowed in. I’ve had plenty of time to leisurely drink coffee, watch old episodes of Fixer Upper, and stare at snow falling for hours. A seriously welcomed adult time-out! With such technology driven, on-the-go lifestyles, we forget to slow down and just….be, sometimes. I highly recommend it! Now-we haven’t exactly spent the entire time being blobs on the couch. I thought it’d be the perfect time to take some pics, play outdoors and oogle the cottage style homes in the area. This is what a Tennessee winter looks like ya’ll: Life will resume as scheduled on Monday; slow down, soak it up, be grateful and enjoy the art outside 🙂
Happy Belated Birthday to my blog! I can’t believe I’ve been live since New Year’s Eve of 2014. I met my tiny 2015 goal of posting at least one time per month-GO ME!! AND-it’s so ridiculously wild that I’ve had readers from 29 different countries! THANK YOU for joining me on this adventure and I look forward to what this year has in store. While many of us are thinking about the first day back at work or school tomorrow, I’m still reflecting on my 2015. It will be a challenge to top with soooo many memorable milestones: First home purchase A wedding or, ahem…planned elopement in Key West New job opportunity and career path Sitting on a ledge over the Grand Canyon First Vegas experience First Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo EVER BAM!!!….But bring on 2016! I’m more of a ‘bucket lister’ than a New Year’s resolution maker so here’s a few items for this year: spend more time outdoors share more of my ‘foodie field trips’ here and provide you more ‘minimalist’ tips and recipes become an apprentice …
It’s been a week since attending my first FNCE (Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo for those of you not in the nutrition field). WOAH! I loved every single second of the experience, and living in the host city made it extra special. I’ve never felt more assured of my career choice, nor have I ever completely GEEKED out so many times in one weekend. Spotting Robin Plotkin and Regan Jones wandering the expo floor on Tuesday before the closing session was the icing on my FNCE cake (or should I say ‘brulee’? #lifegoal)! I’m not sure how I let almost six years pass without attending this conference, but rest assured that won’t happen ever again. Not only was I able to sample the latest and trendiest items in the nutrition market and hear from experts in the field at countless educational sessions, but I had the opportunity to network at a few fun events surrounding the conference. I’m still in awe of the whole thing, but behold me in all of my nerdiness below: Perhaps …
You may be wondering how to enjoy this week and still maintain those healthy eating resolutions. Fear not, I have you covered.
